My name is Erin, and I'm a 25-year-old SAHM. My son is 28 months old, and I'm also a part-time babysitter for an 26-month-old girl. I use most of my brain cells trying to coordinate activities for those two hooligans. At the end of the day, if my son is asleep and I have any coherent thoughts left, I try to read or write, which has nothing to do with my formal education. I have a Bachelor's degree in Zoology from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. During college, I contributed to four different research projects, all involving birds (nest-searching, mist-netting, censusing, etc). I got married in 2003, and after college I worked as a vet assistant at a small animal hospital. My son was born in 2005, and I decided to stay home with him. My husband is currently a grad student, working on his Master's in Fish and Wildlife Conservation. He has a lot of background in bird work, too, but his research project is actually on feral cats.

Before my son was born, I was trying to write a novel. After his birth, writing was at the bottom of my to-do list. I spent the first year of his life reading nothing but baby-related books and magazines. What can I say--I was exhausted on so many levels. Then, by a wonderful twist of fate, I stumbled upon Twilight. It quickly became my new all-time favorite book. I love to read, but I've never obsessed over a book like I've obsessed over Twilight. I got on the Internet and read everything I could find about it. I came across fanfiction, and it inspired me to make time for writing again.

Let's see, what other useless miscellaneous information can I divulge...I grew up on a farm, so I love living in the country. Currently the only TV programs I watch on a regular basis are Smallville and Grey's Anatomy. Some of my favorite authors (besides Stephenie Meyer) are J.K. Rowling, Madeleine L'Engle, L.M. Montgomery, C.S. Lewis, Michelle Jaffe, Meg Cabot, Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, Rachel Vincent, Jeaniene Frost, J.R. Ward, Stephen King, Jennifer Crusie, etc etc. Some of the music I've been listening to lately: Relient K, The Fray, Sarah McLachlan, Coldplay, Snow Patrol, Sugarcult, Sanctus Real, Secondhand Serenade, etc etc. I also have a soft spot for oldies, don't ask me why. :)

Writing fiction is taking up more and more of my free time, so I decided to start blogging as a way to keep in touch with friends and keep a journal for myself. Multitasking, in other words. We'll see how it goes. :)
